Leave the day unfinished for a moment

7 September 2026 · 2 min read

The last cup is in the sink. You turn off one light, then another. The house seems to have finished the day before you have.

You do not need to resolve that difference tonight. There can be a pause between what you have done and what is still waiting.

Find some support

Sit or lie somewhere comfortable. Feel the back of the chair or the pillow. Move if you need to. For a moment, notice the place carrying your weight.

This is not an instruction to fall asleep. It is an invitation to stop doing something for a little while.

Make room for what is still here

A thought may return. Perhaps several. You do not need to argue with them or imagine them disappearing. Notice that they are here, then come back to the fabric, a nearby sound or your hands.

If noticing your body feels uncomfortable, open your eyes and look around. If you would rather stop, stop. The guide is here for you.

Let an ending be an ending

When a practice finishes, you do not need to start another immediately to check whether you can fall asleep this time. Stay in silence, or choose a quiet activity you enjoy.

When the night is interrupted, in Meditate, ends without an alarm or a call to wake up. It is a short wellbeing practice, not a treatment or a promise of sleep. If sleep difficulties persist or affect your daily life, speak to a healthcare professional.
